BEARPAW TROPHY WHITETAILS UPDATE 2011
Bearpaw’s 2011 Whitetail hunt was one of the most frustrating in our company’s history. Near perfect conditions should have allowed us to have a great season. The reality unfortunately was very average.
35 hunters harvested 28 deer for a 79% success rate. Our average buck taken was 151” gross.
The best buck harvested was by Bill Holder, a massive 171” giant taken with guide Stuart Lorriman out of a well placed blind.
Sightings of quality deer in September led us to expect big things from 2011. The full moon in the middle of November had the deer on a very nocturnal program. Fields littered with tracks produced few sightings except at first and last light.
11 missed opportunities, our highest in seven years, did not help. We look forward to a better season in 2012.
