BEARPAW TROPHY WHITETAILS UPDATE 2009
Bearpaw’s 2009 Whitetail hunt was one of the best in our history as an incredible 9 bucks grossing over 170” B & C with 2 breaking the 180 inch mark were harvested!
Intensive scouting by the best guide staff in the business provided our clients with legitimate opportunities for upper end whitetails in less than ideal conditions.
The mild weather hampered our overall success; however, the easy November alone with a mild December will definitely enhance the quality of the deer herd in 2010.
Eight time repeat hunter, John Paul, and first time hunter, Bob McLarren, took 2 exceptional whitetails. Bob’s buck was taken at about 10:30am overlooking a logging cut block bordering dense timber in Wildlife Management Unit 520. His buck has 16 score able points and grossed 186” with a net score of 172”. 26 inch beams and 25” of mass per side! A once in a lifetime buck for the Bearpaw newcomer.
John Paul has hunted whitetails extensively in Canada for 10 years and succeeded in harvesting a tremendous buck on his 6th day of his hunt with Bearpaw. A basic 5 X 5 with 24” beams, 9” eye guards, and a wall of tines; a beautiful 176” typical frame with extras grossing 189” typical; too many deductions to meet book minimum, but a giant in his own right. His deer was also harvested from a stand at 2:30pm.
One thing to be learned here is “Don’t miss the mid-day hunting!”
The remainder of our hunters to break the 170” mark in 2009 are Rock Tyrholm with a 173” deer, Bruce Mathews 172”, Roger Krantz 172”, Clint Bishop 173”, Glenn Bailey 171”, Paul Gardner 178”, and Ray Floyd 172”.
We are booked for 2010 and have 5 openings available in 2011. Email us and ask about being placed on a waiting list for the next available spot.
