BEARPAW MULE DEER UPDATE 2006

Bearpaws' 2006 Mule Deer hunt was a very good one. 22 Mule Deer hunters harvested 22 Mule Deer for our second consecutive 100 % season.

Proper game management and limited hunting pressure have made the Peace Country one of the best places to hunt Mule Deer in excess of 180 B&C.

Early September harvest changed the hunt for Mule Deer in our early season. Many of the great bucks we pre-scouted where deep in the canyons until the November rut pushed the bucks back to food source.

We had to earn our Mule Deer this year. More so than in the previous 2 seasons.

Lee Soricelli took a great buck in September with Guide Nick Ouellette 197 Gross 5x5.

Partner Joe Rada took a solid 180 on the first day of his hunt with Scott Taylor.

Glenn Bailey - 193 heavy horned giant Mule Deer

Jim Dean took a 30" 192 Gross 185 net 5x5 opening morning and then
waited until the last day of his return trip to harvest his 160 Whitetail.

Pete Mowbray took an awesome 188 buck with veteran Bob Voth in September.

Glenn Bailey took my favorite buck of the year with Jamie Allard on the last day of the season an outstanding 193 Heavy horned giant. (See Glenn's trophy Mule Deer on the front page of our web site)

Dave Schulte took another 190 to go along with his 2 Mule Deer
from the previous two years with Kevin Congdon.

Brian Brooks took a 174 and Christine Brooks took a 182.
2 great bucks in September.

Our other couple set the bar rather high as Craig Boswell and
Amy Carskadon with Craig taking a great 191 gross.

Amy Carskadon took a willow branch 199 inch awesome buck after
a 40 minute stock in -20 degree weather with Bowen Dolhan.

Bill Clous took one of the few legitimate 30" bucks we take with guide Nick Ouellette who also guided Don Morin to his best Mule Deer in 30 years a 187 gross.
