SPRING BLACK BEAR 2009

The Bearpaw 2009 spring season concluded on June 1st this year. We experienced 160% success with some superb bears being taken by our clients.

Extensive use of trail cameras enabled us to concentrate on Big Bears rather than big bear sign.
Our hunters harvested six 7-foot bears and one amazing 8-Foot Monster Brown Bear harvested by Mexican hunter Fernando on his first bear hunt.

We ran 50 bait stations in ’09; all of which were active. At the end of the season, to say the least, there were plenty of bears.

The only negative in spring 2009 were the number of missed opportunities. Eleven bears were shot at and not retrieved, the highest in our company history. Please practice with your weapon of choice to ensure clean humane kills. Patience and sure shots are a must.

I would like to thank my excellent guiding staff for their effort as well as our cook, Smokey, for providing the quality in the camp.

I have decided to reduce the number of weeks operating in the spring to guarantee success. We will offer hunts from May 10 – 16, May 17 – 23, May 24 – 30, and May 31 - June 5. We will be taking a maximum of 32 clients in the spring of 2010.
